Tea cup and saucer from the "Pastorales en Grisaille" series, designed 1771 during the last years of the reign of Louis XV. The original tea set can be found in the Museum of Montmartre in Paris. The Litron cup is also known as the "square cup". (Its height is equal to its diameter). Its saucer shape is noted for its raised sides and deep well. It was first seen in 1752 when consumption of chocolate, tea and coffee began to grow in popularity.
